Google Drive File Stream is now available in your G Suite account.
With Drive File Stream, you can stream your Google Drive files directly from the cloud to your Mac or PC, freeing up disk space and network bandwidth. Since Drive files are stored in the cloud, any changes you or your collaborators make are automatically updated. In fact, Drive File Stream is the only way to access Team Drive content from your desktop.

Before using Drive File Stream, please note:
- Google Backup and Sync client, another backup solution released during the summer, will still be available to NC State users for individual accounts. However, the university's recommended option is Drive File Stream.
- If you are running both Drive File Streamand Backup and Sync on the same machine, you'll be prompted to stop syncing your My Drive with Backup and Sync in order to save disk space.
- If you are using the older Google Drive sync client for Mac and PC, you might see messages in the product notifying you that Google will deprecate this older client at the end of 2017.
- If you are a Team Drive editor, you can only view your Team Drive files when they are opened in Drive File Stream. To edit these files, you'll need to open them in Drive on the web.
